'Jon and the Nightriders' are the definitive answer if your looking for that classic 60's instrumental reverb-soaked sound, done for more contemporary times! In my opinion, ever song on this album is great! It sound's like it was recorded in the early 60's! Much of it's 'surf-sound' is akin to the 60's surf bands, 'The Astronauts' or 'The /5(6).

It is hard to beat Jon and the Nightriders when it comes to intensity and style. The surf classics, rarities and originals on "Surf Beat '80" set the bar for further Jon & The Nightriders releases. A major statement in the surf revival with liner notes by Dick Dale. This album should be an essential entry in any surf instrumental library.
