    Giant Steps Woody Herman & His Orchestra Format: Vinyl. out of 5 stars 20 ratings. I was in Jazz band in high school and we played 4 of the charts off this album (CD). It was a real kick to hear this again, and I find myself playing it over & over. Such high quality jazz Herman was producing in the 70's!/5(20).

    History will undoubtedly enshrine this disc as a watershed the likes of which may never truly be appreciated. Giant Steps bore the double-edged sword of furthering the cause of the music as well as delivering it to an increasingly mainstream audience.
